What is a partial denture?
A partial denture is a removable appliance used to replace one or more missing teeth. The most common types of removable partial dentures (RPD) include a metal RPD (metal framework with pink acrylic to simulate gums and tooth-coloured acrylic to simulate teeth), an acrylic RPD or a Valplast (flexible resin/nylon thermoplastic) RPD.
What is a full denture?
A full or complete denture is a removable appliance used to replace all the missing teeth in one jaw. The base is made out of pink acrylic and the teeth attached to the base are made out of tooth-coloured acrylic.
A full denture can also be supported or retained by implants. An implant-supported or implant-retained denture improves the retention, stability and support of the denture. During your consultation appointment, one of our dentists will be happy to discuss these options in more detail with you.
